It may have been a rainy afternoon in Ann Arbor, but that didn’t stop Serena Ryder from jamming out at this week’s Sonic Lunch. After a week off, due to the Ann Arbor Art Fair, Sonic Lunch returned with another phenomenal concert at local hotspot, The Ark. The lights were dimmed down low, the crowd made themselves comfortable, and Ryder took the stage.
With an impressive background, featuring multiple tours with Melissa Etheridge and several years as a top selling artist in her homeland of Canada, Ryder proved herself as one of the most exciting acts on the Sonic Lunch line-up. Her powerful pipes never missed a note and her wit and charisma charmed the audience. Whether she was blowing people away with her heartfelt lyrics, jumping around the stage, bantering with the crowd, or having everyone sing along with her, she kept her performance engaging.
Her standout song was her finale, “Little Bit of Red,” a catchy, high-energy track. Ryder had a loyal legion of fans ecstatic to sing along with this delightful tune. Catch the music video for the song on her website at:http://www.serenaryder.com/video/a-little-bit-of-red/.
Next week, Hoots & Hellmouth will take the stage. Sound familiar? They’re featured in this month’s edition of iSPY Magazine. Read our interview with the band here: http://mispymag.com/2011/07/new-sonic-textures-with-hoots-hellmouth/
