The soulful sound of blues and classic rock, and the delicious aroma of Jamaican cuisine filled the air at yesterday’s Sonic Lunch. With local favorite Laith Al-Saadi performing, this was one of the biggest concerts of the season and Laith did not disappoint. Liberty Plaza was packed with spectators chowing down on special selections from the Jamaican Jerk Pit and Sweetwater’s coffee, while Laith jammed out all afternoon long.
It’s no wonder why Laith is such a huge hit. He was tearing it up on his guitar, creating an exciting, lively atmosphere within the crowd. Kids were dancing and playing, while the crowd cheered with joy every time Laith busted out a guitar solo. This guy is raw talent!
Sonic Lunch keeps getting better and better every week. Props to Bank of Ann Arbor for throwing one of the hottest concert series of the summer and for supporting local artists and businesses. If you couldn’t get enough of Laith, no worries. He’ll be playing at Woodruff’s in Ypsilanti tonight and next Monday, June 27, beginning at 10pm, completely free. Can’t wait till next week when The Ultrasounds take center stage. See you there!
